To Boldly Go

I'm not entirely certain when this joke started in my head...

I do know that it really works for me unlike some of the other Mizz strips. It must all be "my" humor, technically speaking, if I write it but on a spiritual level the things I find funniest are the absolutely absurd things. I like cerebral humor, don't get me wrong. But I think there's something intrinsically funny about things that just are wrong for the sake of wrong.

That's why I chuckle at a clearly white Lump (albeit in the GUISE of Lt. Uhura) shrieking that Capt. Myd is only making her open a channel because she's black.

I really liked this piece, artistically, because it gave me a chance to take a step away from Mizz's normal colour pallette and do things a little differently. I was conscientious to stick pretty close to the colours found in the original Star Trek and even went so far as to replace the Mizz logo.

I've never really thought too much about Star Trek. I like the original. I LOVED Voyager. But that's about as far as my Trekkieness goes. Although I will admit to a certain elation at the line, "Captain... there be whales here!"
